• 24.06.1965: graduation from high school (school No. 25 in Zhitomir, Ukraine, USSR);
• 01.09.1965: admission to the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Dolgoprudnyi, Moscow region);
• 19.05.1971: Master of Science (University degree) upon graduation from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
• 04.10.1974: PhD in theoretical astrophysics from the Institute for Space Research (Moscow, Academy of Sciences of the USSR);
• 12.04.1996: Doctor of Science in theoretical physics from the Institute of High Temperatures (Moscow, Russian Academy of Sciences).

Work experience:

• 01.10.1974 - 02.12.1979: junior researcher at the Institute for Space Research (Moscow) in the theoretical group headed by academician Ya.B. Zel'dovich; research in theoretical astrophysics: theory of radiation transport in cosmic surroundings, theory of X-ray stars in binary stellar systems.
• 03.12.1979 - present time: senior, leading researcher at the Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Physics (Moscow); research in the physics of high energy density in matter, theory of controlled thermonuclear fusion with inertial confinement (ICF), theory of ICF targets driven by intense beams of heavy ions.

Teaching experience:

• 01.09.2000 - present time: lecturing for the 4th-6th year students at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (courses on theoretical foundations of ICF, on self-similar solutions in fluid dynamics); supervision of postgraduate students.
